Testimonials

Thank you again for all your help, we don't know what we would have done without you. Nancy G.

I have been associated with Valerie Harper since 2004 on the receiving end of her expertise.
Through her kindness and abilities, I was provided the proper care needed to function in
today's society. She never gave up on me, even when the Doctors said I would never walk
again. Today, I drive , walk with a cane,
take care of my home, and still find time to help
others.
I was even able to be of help to my loved ones before they passed away, Mrs.
Harper was instrumental in helping me achive all these gifts. Howard R.

I met Valerie Harper at the Social Worker's Conference in 2007. I was very impressed with her knowledge & caring attitude. She has become a friend & is easily called on during the year for any questions or support anyone needs. I feel lucky to have met such a wonderful individual. Kimberly B.

”I was Valerie's very first BSW intern. I am honored to have learned from her; she provided me the foundation to continue to work devotedly with the geriatric population in long term care. She taught me that this devotion is not only part of who we are as professionals; it is part of who we are as everyday people. She taught me the true meaning of advocacy (we and our clients do not have a voice unless we use it), resident rights, and the key to establishing trust by starting where residents and families are...using a sense of humor where appropriate! Valerie is both driven and honest. She will do whatever it takes to make others' wishes known and respected.” Melanie A.

“I met Valerie four years ago when I first went in to business. She did not hesitate to help me network and approach those people who would put me in touch with the end user I needed. This is typical Valerie. Selflessly she has made it her life’s work to help others and help she does. I have seen her take up the cause of seniors and not stop until their goals were met. She is the best at what she does.” Art W.: Diabetic Shoe Company

I have known Valerie Harper, MSW for many years. I have watched her develop into a well rounded professional social worker. She always has the best interest of others in the forefront of her life and career. I find her to be dedicated to health care social work, International Social work. She is politically active in making a difference for all. Valerie promotes the professionalism of social work everyday and strives to keep its values as an honored quest.

A tireless advocate for residents in nursing homes, seniors within the community and is an avid community speaker and presenter. She has developed programs for care providers both professional and for individuals who provide endless care at home to their loved ones. Other programs developed are based on integrating music into therapeutic arenas. She gracefully gives free piano lessons to a young man with a terminal cancer. There is always humor in her life and sometimes she can be literally found clowning around. There is nothing funnier than her presentation on humor and coping skills.

She has been active in NASW, SSWLHC and FHCSWA both on state and local levels. Writing is her forte and she uses her pen to relate issues. Endless letters to the editors of various papers in regards to social injustices as well as well written articles in local and state publications. On top of everything she does for the community she serves, she has an endless list of past BSW and MSW Interns from both FAU and FIU. She also sits on the advisory committee for Florida Memorial University.

It is an honor for me to recommend Valerie B. Harper, MSW as Social Worker of the Year for 2006.

I have known Valerie Harper personally and professionally for more than five years. As an Elder Law attorney I have observed her with patients, their families, and with her nursing home employers. As most in the healthcare social field realize, trying to satisfy the often conflicting goals of the patient and nursing home owners creates a great deal of constant stress on the social worker.

Moreover, I have observed her attendance at professional meetings in which she strives to improve her own skills and to help with the education of less experienced social workers.

Based on my own observation of how she spends so much time with nervous family members like a recent community spouse, it is perfectly obvious how much Valerie Harper goes out of her way to perform far more than the minimum services on behalf of patients and their families.

Valerie recently took time out of her packed schedule to chauffer a Mrs. "H" all the way down to the Miami-Dade Court House and bank to obtain a copy of a deed needed for Medicaid planning purposes.

Time and time again I have witnessed her tireless efforts at meetings to satisfy the
nursing home employer, the needs of the very sick patients, and the very nervous and sometimes emotionally unstable family members.
